Logan Village Falcons football club upgrade equipment after scoring $10,000 federal government grant

Football operations manager Ian Judd said new goals bought with the grant money had been beneficial for players and coaches.

"Without the grant, it would have proven a difficult and time-consuming task to have raised the funds for this equipment," Mr Judd said.

"The new goals have proven invaluable in providing our players with improved and safer equipment with which to enjoy their football as well as aiding our coaches to undertake better training sessions."

The $10,000 funding was part of the federal government's Stronger Communities Programme.

Wright MP Scott Buchholz said the program delivered social benefits to communities across Australia.

"The Morrison government is investing in our community here in Logan Village, to improve community groups and support them in the work they do," he said.

Mr Buchholz thanked the club's executive for the work they did in the community.

"I am very pleased to support the Falcons and their volunteers, they do a great job ensuring local sport's can go ahead and kids have a team to be involved in," he said.

"They do amazing work right here in our community and I am proud the Morrison government is partnering with the Falcons to improve equipment, help out the players and volunteers and reduce the fundraising burden.

"In 2020 the value of volunteering to Queensland was almost $84 billion. That is an incredible amount of money and the cost to replace the labour provided by volunteers in Queensland in 2020 was more than $37 billion.

"We simply could not afford to do it and so much in our community would not get done."
