The Queensland Police Service (QPS) says it has arrested and charged 11 people across Logan and South Brisbane as part of ongoing investigations.
Consisting of the Logan Major and Organised Crime Squad, as well as officers from the Brisbane and South Eastern Police regions, Operation Dagobah sought to investigate multiple shootings in Logan and Brisbane.
Regional Crime Coordinator for the Brisbane Region, Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham, said police were treating the shootings as linked to ongoing tensions between rival groups.
"Operation Dagobah has been established as part of a commitment by Queensland Police to target these acts of violence between criminal networks," Detective Superintendent Massingham said.
"A wide range of investigative strategies are currently being used to prevent and disrupt these groups. The shootings are organised and targeted and are not random attacks."
Police say the seven shootings being investigated occurred between late April and early June, and happened in Marsden, Woodridge, Calamvale, Kuraby and Stretton.
These involved shooting into residences and shooting between vehicles according to the QPS.
Detective Superintendent Massingham said investigations were ongoing, and that police would do everything in their power to keep the community safe.
"Investigators are appealing for public assistance. Anyone who has any information about any of these incidents is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," he said.
"The Operation involves a mixture of high police visibility and a strongly proactive investigative focus that traverses the lowest level of criminal activity through to the most serious.
"To simplify that approach we will throw whatever it takes at these groups to keep the community safe."
According to a QPS media release the 11 people who have been arrested and charged range from 17 to 28 and nine of them were taken into custody following a brawl in Mount Gravatt on July 14.
Those arrested include a 28 year-old Berrinba man, a 23 year-old Loganlea man, two men aged 19 and 21 years old from Underwood and a 19 year-old Woodridge man.
The remaining six people were from suburbs in Brisbane, and included a 17 year-old Kuraby boy.
With the exception of the Woodridge man, the Kuraby boy and a 21 year-old Kuraby man, those arrested in Operation Dagobah are expected to appear in court later this month.
