Logan Village State School will get $1 million from the South East Queensland Community Stimulus Grant Program for kerb and channeling work.
Parking bays will also be installed on Storey Road.
Principal David Cramb said students and parents would win.
"It will improve safety for kids and ease for parents at drop off and pick up time," he said.
Division 4 councillor Laurie Koranski also chipped in $250,000 from her divisional funding for the work.
"I'd like to commend my fellow councillors for supporting my advocacy efforts and thank the state government's South East Queensland Community Stimulus Grant Program for listening to the community," she said.
"Storey Road has been a bug bear for the Logan Village State School, residents and parents taking their children to and from school for as long as I can remember.
"I have been advocating for upgrades to this road for years."
Nine projects across the city received funding. They included Teviot Road/Middle Road intersection, where $1 million will go towards an upgrade.
A further $48,000 will be spent at the School Road/Chambers Flat Road intersection.
Eagleby's $5.5 million Riverine Discovery Centre will get $2.5 million, and a Logan Central youth centre will get $2 million.
"The projects we proposed through the application process will have long-lasting benefits for our city's prosperity," mayor Darren Power said.
"This is important as we continue to deal with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and as our population continues to grow."
