IT’S been eight months in the making. Now Logan Village State School students are set to take their school musical Kids At Sea from rehearsals to the main stage.
More than 90 students from prep to Year 6 perform and worked behind the scenes to put on the colourful musical which follows the adventures of a young Harold, played by Molly Scully, as he meets pirates, mer-people, a sultan and his sultanas, Roc Birds, silly sailors, sea creatures and more.
Harold’s adventures end at Treasure Island, where dreams come true and everyone gets what they want when they spin Queen Neptunia’s Wonderful Wheel of Fortune.
“It is a lovely, uplifting and positive story with fabulous songs and we’ve had fun doing it,” said music teacher Maxine Ram.
“There are 91 students from prep to year 6 involved.
“There are drama students, dancers, choristers, back stage crew, painters and decorators.
“They are doing a fantastic job.
“The kids have been rehearsing since term one and have had weekend and holiday rehearsals too.”
Director Debbie Stone said the musical had required a big commitment from kids, staff, teachers, parents and carers over many months.
“A lot of the kids have never been on stage before so I’ve watched them grow and get more confident as we’ve progressed,” she said.
“They’ve sacrified many lunch times, school holidays and weekends to make this production a success.
“I could not be prouder of them.”
Kids At Sea plays at the school auditorium on Saturday, September 8 with shows at 2pm and 6pm. Book tickets (adults $10, kids $5) here, the school tuckshop or at the door.
