Senior police officers have renewed a plea for drivers to be cautious on the roads after eight people died in accidents across the state over the weekend.
The horror weekend followed a report which revealed fatal crashes were up eight per cent on last year across the state.
The crashes included one at Bethania, where two men died in a three-vehicle accident at the corner of Fletcher and Logan River roads.
A 54-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 37-year-old man died shortly afterwards.
Two people were taken to Logan Hospital in stable conditions.
Four people died in Townsville on Sunday morning when the car they were in flipped after clipping a roundabout.
That accident followed one in Mackay where an infant died in accident on Saturday afternoon.
A woman died in a motorcycle accident at Ipswich on Monday morning.
The 29-year-old died at the scene at Carole Park, while a 31-year-old was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Assistant Commissioner Mike Keating said the tragic weekend should serve as a reminder for all motorists to drive responsibly.
"We have seen a range of circumstances where families are now without loved ones," Assistant Commissioner Keating said.
"The number of people who have died on Queensland roads this year is up dramatically in comparison to this time last year and it's not acceptable.
"Police will continue to conduct enforcement activities; however motorists need to take control and drive responsibly on our roads.
"Poor actions and decisions have grave consequences, not only for you but for those who care about you."
A 36-year-old Redland Bay woman died in February in a three-vehicle crash on Serpentine Creek Road.
Another incident involving a young driver who lost his licence just a day after getting it, angered local police.
A man was seriously injured at Veresdale on June 4 when two vehicles collided outside the V Hotel.
A van struck a ute from behind while it was waiting to turn right into the pub car park.
One of the drivers was left with serious leg injuries in the accident. Its force spun the ute around on impact.
A woman was taken to Logan Hospital complaining of shoulder and pelvic pain after an accident at Jimboomba on Monday about 10.50am.
Across Queensland, 91 people were killed on the roads in the first five months of 2020, up from 84 the previous year.
