Kingston man, 35, arrested after Highland Park home burgled, police car rammed in Eagleby parking lot

A KINGSTON man was arrested on Wednesday morning after a police car was allegedly rammed in an Eagleby parking lot.

It is alleged a vehicle and credit cards were stolen from a Gold Coast home at Highland Park earlier in the morning.

The victims contacted police after checking bank statements to find their credit cards had been used at an Eagleby shopping centre.

Police rushed to the scene and found two people sitting inside the stolen vehicle in a local parking lot.

The driver allegedly hit a police car with the vehicle while trying to flee before taking off on foot. He was arrested after a brief pursuit.

A 30-year-old Kingston man was taken to the Beenleigh Watchhouse and charged with burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, fraud, obstructing police and driving while disqualified.

The latter charge related to the Wednesday morning incident and other alleged offences.

He was denied police bail and is due in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
