Ms Miller, co-founder of Fresh Start Rescue, said for the past eight years the organisation had been providing foster homes for domestic animals due to be euthanased at pounds and shelters.
"We take dogs, puppies, cats and kittens ... get their health fixed up and any behavioural issues addressed, then adopt them out to their forever homes," she said.
"We also take domestic animals from slaughterhouses and rehome them.
"We are a network of foster carers across the greater Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast areas.
"From my home in Kooralbyn I do specialised foster care. Mostly my foster dogs are in palliative care.
"These come into pounds, usually unclaimed strays, most have had tough lives and all have terminal illness that can't be treated.
"But they can have a good quality of life for a short time on appropriate pain relief and medication."
Ms Miller said these included a 14-year-old Australian cattle dox mix called Edison Redburn.
"He has heart disease among other issues but he's still got some living to do," she said.
"He recently had an adventure where he met a cow for the first time. We get the palliative care dogs out for adventures as much as we can.
"He has been in our care for four weeks now and has a weekly visit to the vet to make sure he's doing okay and not in pain. Other than that he just gets to experience a loving home and lots of fun."
Fresh Start has established an online fundraising campaign to help cover costs.
"We have had a number of expensive dogs (needing specialist surgery) this year and we're just trying to clear our vet bills," she said.
