Logan MP Linus Power said he was thrilled the work was about to get underway.
"It means jobs for locals, as well as a better and safer drive home for so many people," he said.
"This $75 million investment means people will get home to their families quicker, and safely.
"This is a great day for Logan."
Queensland based company HullSEE JV has been awarded the contract.
"I promised my community this upgrade and I am so proud that the Palaszczuk government is working with the Commonwealth to deliver this very important project," Mr Power said.
The state and federal governments have a 50/50 commitment to the project.
So far, $165 million has been spent upgrading the highway, Mr Power said.
This project builds on the recently completed upgrade between Rosia Road and Stoney Camp Road, and upon completion in late 2022 will mean four lanes from Rosia Road all the way through to the Chambers Flat Road intersection.
It will connect to the North Maclean service lane and improved four lane intersection at Greenbank Road.
Last July, the highway was added to the National Land Transport Network, increasing the chances of federal funding.
Former mayoral candidate Brett Raguse welcomed the news.
"It could establish the area as a major transport hub," Mr Raguse said at the time.
"It's a strategic location, and a phenomenal opportunity."
