A PLAN to widen the road between Anzac Avenue and North Street to four lanes at Logan Village has been updated following public consultation.
The latest proposal still does not include direct right-turn access to the Logan Village Hotel or medical precinct, but will preserve right-turn access into Logan Street.
Logan MP Linus Power said a U-turn facility would be installed at the Logan Street intersection to help southbound traffic access the businesses when the road upgrade is complete.
"I'm glad TMR has listened to the feedback from our community and changed its plans on that particular issue," he said.
"The current design of the four-lane upgrade between Anzac Avenue and North Street will also provide a specific point for emergency vehicles to access the Logan Village medical centre.
"These are common sense changes to the final design and means we can get on with constructing the upgrade."
Under the original proposal, southbound traffic would need to complete a U-Turn at Anzac Avenue to access the businesses.
The Logan Village pharmacy launched a petition with about 1300 signatures opposing the initial project design.
Pharmacy manager Stephen Sammut said the final decision was disappointing but a better outcome than what was originally proposed.
"TMR has made their decision and our patients and community will be affected by not having direct access," he said.
"Hopefully people will find their way around using an alternative route but we are not overly happy with the result.
"I have been in touch with TMR and further objected in line with community sentiment."
Mr Power said he expected it would take some time for people to get used to the changes when the project is completed.
"But they need to hap[pen if we want to make the road safer and deal with congestion for our growing community," he said.
"With almost 20,000 vehicles driving this road each day, the upgrade needed to ensure that north south flow of traffic wasn't interrupted constantly be turning vehicles."
The road upgrade is expected to be complete by the middle of this year.
There is $700,000 currently allocated to plan for upgrades between Camp Cable Road and Hotz Road and Anzac Avenue to North Street over the next 18 months.
