A LOGAN Village man won an early birthday surprise of more than $250,000 this week after purchasing a Super 66 lotto ticket for the first time in his life.
The anonymous Queenslander claimed his $258,654.90 winnings on Tuesday, April 23, after his ticket was revealed as the only division one winning entry in the Super 66 draw on Saturday, April 20.
The retiree said a sleepless Monday night prompted him to check his Super 66 entry.
"Last night I couldn't sleep for some reason. I was wide awake in bed and I thought I should get up and check my ticket from the weekend," he said.
"I couldn't believe it when I saw my numbers printed.
"I had to go to the newsagency to be sure and when they scanned my ticket they told me I'd won something big."
The Logan resident said he would share his winnings with his family.
"It's my birthday this week and this is the best present I've received in my life," he said.
"It certainly hasn't sunk in yet.
"My wife is so excited, and with mother's Day coming up, she'll be getting the best present."
Tobacco Station Eagleby manager Rahul Khatri said the regular customer deserved to win the amazing cash prize.
"This day has been a long time coming and we couldn't be more thrilled for our loyal customer," he said.
"This is the first time we've sold a division one winning entry and it's great to know someone from our tight knit community has won."
The winning numbers were 1, 4, 0, 0, 8 and 1.
