FOR sheer size and scale, the $512 million Logan Enhancement Project ranks as a true feat of modern engineering.
To mark a milestone year on the job, Transurban Queensland has released some stats that will drop the jaws of even the nerdiest engineers. The first sod was turned on June 6, 2017.
Designed to improve safety and bust congestion, the Logan Enhancement Project features 15km of road construction and 20 new bridges.
A year into construction, the project has:
- poured 10,000 cubic metres of concrete
- installed 70 super t bridge girders
- installed 100 plus deck units
- poured more than 52 000 cubic tonne of asphalt
- used 1800 tonnes of steel
- moved 150,000 cubic metres of soil
- clocked up 1.1 million construction hours
TQ, meanwhile, reports changes to traffic conditions on the section of Illaweena Stret between Gowan Road and Hashim Place from next week.
A TQ spokesperson said Illaweena Street would close each night from Monday June 25 until Thursday June 28 from 8pm until 5am.
Illaweena Street will then reopen to the single lane two-way traffic flow arrangement at 5am each morning.
A full closure will be in place during school holidays on Friday, June 29 from 12 midnight until Monday, July 16 at 5am.
The spokesman said during the closures the project team will continue with bridge constructions, including girder installation and utility works and thanked motorists for their patience.
The Logan Enhancement Project also includes upgrades to the Wembley Road/Logan Motorway interchange and construction of south-facing ramps on the Gateway Extension Motorway at Compton Road.
The work is expected to improve traffic flow on the Mount Lindesay Highway all the way to Jimboomba and Beaudesert.
The project will be completed by mid-2019, weather permitting.
