MOMENTUM for the Worlds Greatest Shave at Veresdale Scrub State School has grown like a snowflake develops into a snowball.
Veresdale Scrub students Sammy and Daisy Pearce led the charge for the World’s Greatest Shave within the school last year and their bravery inspired grade four student Connor James to join them at school parade on Friday morning to shave his head for the first time.
Sammy first shaved his head last year to support his life-long friend Summer Hews was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2016.
Sammy’s father, Darryl Pearce, joined his son and Connor in front of the entire school as their locks were shaved.
He said he hoped their efforts could make lives easier for cancer patients and their families.
“It is not just a health issue, for the families that struggle it is an economical issue. Especially if they live a long way from hospitals,” Darryl said.
“Every drop helps will the pond, if we can keep the movement and enthusiasm going than I’m sure more kids will be inspired this year and join next year.
“Sammy inspired Connor last year and he joined on, the snowball starts from the snowflake.”

Daisy, Sammy and Connor formed the World’s Greatest Shave Team “Summers Supporters” which raised $1088.60 this year, more than double what was raised last year.
Sammy thanked everyone who dug deep into their pockets to support the cause.
“One man was really generous and gave us $50 notes which really got us up,” he said.
Veresdale State School students also supported the cause with a $1 gold coin donation in exchange for a hairspray.
Summers Supporters thanked Toni Allen from Murphy’s Barber Jimboomba, Jimboomba Shopping Centre Management, Veresdale Scrub State School families, Woolworths customers donating to the cause and friends and family for their support.
