Justice of the Peace services are now available at Yarrabilba with the launch of a community signing site last week.
Registrar and Manager of JP Branch in the Department of Justice and Attorney-General Damien Mealey said the new site would provide vital witnessing services to the local community.
“It is so important a community the size of Yarrabilba has easy access to JP services, and I’d like to thank all the volunteers and stakeholders who have made this possible,” he said.
“We have entered into partnerships with many organisations over the years to grow the volunteer program.
“It is fantastic to work with Lendlease here at Yarrabilba, to provide facilities and resources to establish a needed JP witnessing service in a new and emerging community.”

Mr Mealey said the service would be staffed by local Justices of the Peace and Commissioners for Declarations to offer JP services to the community.
“It is great to see such community spirit – people with skills who are prepared to give up their time to help others are not in short supply in the greater Logan area,” he said.
“This new site will add to several other community sites in the greater Logan area.
“The site is the newest of the 236 JPs in the Community Program sites across Queensland, stretching from Coolangatta to Mossman and west to Mt Isa.”
In Queensland JPs can issue search and arrest warrants; grant bail; witness documents, statutory declarations and affidavits; witness and administer oaths and affirmations; certify a true copy of an original document and certify a person’s identity.
Commissioners for Declarations can do these tasks but cannot issue search and arrest warrants or grant bail.
The JPs in the Community site will operate at The Exchange, corner of Shaw Street and Wongawallan Drive, Yarrabilba on Thursdays between 12pm and 2pm.
