Residents from Yarrabilba and surrounding suburbs will now the option to purchase a trolley full of groceries for just $30, following the launch of a partnership program between Dunamis Church and Lighthouse Care.
Lighthouse Care, which currently offers $25 trolleys at Hillcrest and Loganholme stores, were interested in expanding their service to help families in the Yarrabilba area.
For $30, a trolley load of groceries can be purchased from Lighthouse Care and delivered to the area on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
Dunamis Church representatives coordinate the deliveries at Darlington Parklands carpark, Yarrabilba, from 4pm until 5pm.
Each trolley load of groceries has a retail value of more than $100.
The groceries are always different and will include items such as fruit and vegetables, dairy products, base pantry staples and frozen goods.
All residents, regardless of their income and background, are welcome to place an order.
Dunamis Church Pastors Peter and Melinda Hartley said the desire to help families followed the success of their Christmas hamper appeal.
Mrs Hartley said the first delivery, on March 7, received 44 orders.
“There is no need for concession cards or any memberships,” she said.
“It might just be they need a trolley parcel every fortnight or a one off, either way we want to help and support our community.
“We don’t want to see people struggling.”
Lighthouse Care general manager Matthew Hill said the original $25 trolleys came from a need in the community.
“We are trying to provide something for the people that they are able to afford,” he said.
“We want to be out in the community and provide a service that can help.
“We are really happy to jump on board with Dunamis Church.”
