Throwing yourself into the deep end is what musician Tomi Gray’s outlook was for this year, so he converted an old ambulance and hit the road.
Now, Tomi will be headlining the September 17 Sunrise Markets at Yarrabilba; just one of the gigs on his Big Trippin’ Tour.
Tomi said he has no fixed address but wanted to get to know Australia and what the best part of each town was.
“If anyone wants to be my tour guide or information desk for the Yarrabilba area let me know,” he said.
“I really want to get to know as many people as I can and, sort of, become a local in a sense.”

Tomi said he had never been to Yarrabilba before but enjoyed playing market gigs.
“Being a Sunday morning you could just stay home and read the paper or bath the dogs or whatever, but if you head on down and watch me play I’ll guarantee it won’t be just your regular Sunday,” he said.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun.
“This is the largest tour I’ve done on my own.”
Tomi describes his music as stimulated folk tunes and said he had originally been focusing on a 90s grunge vibe.
“I started this year by writing 100 songs in 100 days and I couldn’t really go back to pulling beers in bars after that, so I’ve put everything in and this is how it’s come back out,” he said.
“Music has been something on the back burner but now for the Big Trippin’ Tour I’m all in.”
Sunrise Markets coordinator Jane Dear said she was pleased to be able to find acts like Tomi Gray.
“We always want to have live music at our markets and we are excited for the next event,” she said.
“Sunrise is exceeding all our expectations and we have had more than 30 stalls consistently since starting three months ago.
“Spring has sprung at the Sunrise Markets and we are seeing all the local farmers bring their produce along after recovering somewhat from the floods.”
The Sunrise Markets are held in the Darlington Parklands, Yarrabilba on the first and third Sunday of the month from 7am.
Tomi is scheduled to take to the stage at 9am on September 17.
