Nissan Australia has publicly disclosed on its website that it has been subject to a cyber attack, and it's investigating whether any customer personal information has been accessed.

At this stage it's unclear what type of information may have been obtained during the cyber attack, nor how many people are affected.

The cyber attack has also affected Nissan New Zealand.
The local division of the Japanese carmaker claims it's working with its global incident response team and "relevant stakeholders" to investigate the extent of the incident.
Nissan has also notified the Australian Cyber Security Centre and New Zealand National Cyber Security Centre of the cyber attack.
The company has said while the incident is still under investigation some dealer systems will be impacted, however all Nissan dealers are still operating.
It also encourages customers to remain vigilant to activity on their accounts, including looking out for any unusual or scam activities.
Nissan Australia claims it is "working to restore its systems as soon as possible". It will continue to provide updates on its website.
