The FLAME BBQ Street Festival is coming to Jimboomba in September, and residents across the City of Logan have the chance to be crowned the city's first Flame BBQ Champion.
The city's suburbs have been divided into North, South, East and West for an elimination round, where the best BBQ cooks will go head-to-head before the main event on September 17.
Division 9 Councillor Scott Bannan said he hoped the eventual winner would come from his division, as Jimboomba was playing host to the finals.
"All the councillors have a friendly competition going about who has the best people in their division," Cr Bannan said.
"We're looking for the best smoke meat legends in Logan.
"I want to see someone from Division 9 win. I just think it would be fitting as the festival is being held in Jimboomba."
Although the cook-off is only open to City of Logan residents, September's festival promises to be a fun night out for families from far and wide.
Running from 3-9pm, the free event will feature local food, car displays, market stalls, kids' activities and, in keeping with the theme, there will also be fire shows by trained performers.
Registrations for market stalls, food vendors and volunteers are also open, and can be made by contacting hosts BBQ & Beer Roadshow.
Local cook-off competitions will be held between 4-9pm at each of the following venues on the day of the regional contests:
- North (Divisions 1, 2, 3): August 6 at NTG Fight and Fitness, Slacks Creek
- South (Divisions 4, 9, 11):August 13 at The Whitehouse of Waterford, Waterford.
- East (Divisions 6, 10, 12): August 20 at Beenleigh Tavern, Beenleigh.
