Game On Flyball Racing came out fighting when its team 'All Systems GO' went to Capalaba to compete in the Flyball at the Diamond race meeting on June 25, finishing the day on the podium.
Despite a cold and frosty morning, when the dogs were let loose the Division 2 competition heated up and the team finished third out of a tightly-contested field of five.
Club President Peter Samuels said the result was an impressive achievement, particularly as this was the first time a team from the club had competed in a race meet this year.
"Third place out of a division with five teams is pretty impressive," Mr Samuels said.
"A lot of the other teams were from long-established clubs.
"We're all pretty chuffed."
The Capalaba meet was just the second race meet to be held in Queensland this year, as wet weather had disrupted the competition.
Mr Samuels said the team wasn't resting on its laurels, and was already developing strategies to improve and climb the league ladder in preparation for its next outing.
"We took a lot away from it," he said.
"We've got a lot of videos from the racing and we've started to analyse those, looking at different things we can improve."
The stand-out performance from the day was given by Kolby the poodle, who ran every heat in the afternoon after illness put one of the other dogs on the sideline.
The club president said all the dogs performed well, and the team showed a real sense of camaraderie in the face of adversity which he hoped carry over into more success at the next race meeting.
"It was a really big effort," Mr Samuels said.
"We lost one dog to illness, so by lunch time we had no reserves. The team had to lift.
"Everything the dogs did was well within their capabilities, and everyone showed a good fighting spirit, as we all do in Jimboomba."
