The Rotaract Club of Scenic Rim, whose membership extends from Murwillumbah to Rockhampton is looking for more local members.
Club president Nicholas Spanner, who spends his days working as an Audio-Visual salesperson and his nights volunteering said he joined to help people in the community.
"I've been involved with Rotary for a few years, and I like giving back with things like the youth camps," Mr Spanner said.
"I like helping people, it's a big part of me."
Vice-president Taleaha Dempsey, a childcare worker and primary teaching student, said that being part of Rotaract offered unique opportunities.
"I like making a difference and making people happy," Ms Dempsey said.
"I can do that through volunteering."
The club was officially founded in June 2021, and despite a rocky start due to the COVID pandemic Mr Spanner said things were going well.
"COVID was probably the biggest problem we had, just not being able to plan meetings until the last minute," he said.
"But otherwise, things are good. We've got 20 members now, all under the age of 35."
Ms Dempsey said community work was key to the club's activities, but Mr Spanner said there was also time for the members to let their hair down.
"We do a lot of community events and a lot of helping other Rotary organisations," Ms Dempsey said.
"We also do a lot of social activities and do an outing once a month. We've been canoeing, bowling and the next one will be rock climbing," Mr Spanner said.
Recently, the club has helped the Jimboomba Sunrise Rotary Club organise this year's Easter Eggstravaganza for local children and also provided aid to the flood-stricken town of Lismore.
The club also works closely with local charity Defenders for Hope, helping them source donations for those fleeing domestic and family violence.
Both the Rotaract leaders said they hoped the group would welcome even more members over the coming months, and Ms Dempsey said there were very few requirements to join.
"Anyone who's willing or wants to help or wants to join a group and do some community work can come along," she said.
"It's a chance for everyone to get together and have some social time, but also help the community."
The club holds its meetings on the first Monday and the third Wednesday of each month at Dorrington House in Jimboomba, although meetings can be joined remotely.
The next meeting will be held on Monday May 2, and Mr Spanner encouraged younger local residents to consider joining the club.
"It's a good organisation for young people to be part of," he said.
"Obviously you don't need to be part of an organisation to do good in the community, but it's good to be with like-minded people who are the same age."
