New Beith swimmer Broc Simpson recently competed at the Queensland School Sport Swimming Championships, achieving four podium finishes and winning the age championship.
Broc is still something of a novice and has only started training for competitions over the past 12 months, with his older sister and Olympic Champion Ariarne Titmus serving as role models.
At the recent state-level competition Broc won gold in the 200m individual medley, 100m and 50m breaststroke events, and earned a silver medal in the 100m backstroke.
Broc will now seek to replicate his success in these events at the National School School Sport Championships, held in Brisbane this August.
The New Beith swimmer also made the finals in the 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m butterfly events, with his strong performance netting him the age championship.
Broc's mother, Nikki, said she was proud of the young athlete, and that he was a gracious winner.
"Broc is a quiet achiever, a very humble kid. We are so proud of his achievements," she said.
