Local business strikes liquid gold

The packing facility can handle honey, syrups and other liquids with a capacity of ten thousand units per day, and owner Carl Hampson said it had been a long journey to set the facility up.

"It's taken us about two years of planning and a lot of capital to get the facility up and running," Mr Hampson said.

The facility is HACCP and Global Food Safety Initiative certified. It also has USDA organic certification to pack certified organic brands.

Co-owner Karin Hampson said the packing services offered by Hampson Honey include sourcing packaging and product design through to delivering a finished product ready for the retail market.

"We are able to source all packing materials on your behalf. Our packing team are willing to go above and beyond to ensure your product is packed to your specifications and meets your expectations," Mrs Hampson said.

The husband and wife team have been in the beekeeping industry for over 13 years. Carl and his team of beekeepers are passionate about producing 100% Australian raw honey and honeycomb for the retail and industrial market.

Mrs Hampson said the company expanded into the packing services industry as they found a need for this service themselves when they were launching their retail brand.

"We found it really difficult to break into the retail space at a competitive price as setting up a packaging facility would require massive capital investment, which is a great barrier to entry into this market," she said.

"Our aim was to not only set something up for ourselves but also offer it to other retailers and food manufacturers that are looking for a one-stop-shop to take care of all their packing requirements.

"We are delighted that we have now achieved our dream of having our own packing facility and can now extend this opportunity to other Australian businesses. Our primary focus is to offer affordable packing of Australian honey, but we can also pack a multitude of other syrups and jams through this plant.
