BEAUDESERT and Jimboomba branches of Queensland Country Bank has suspended Saturday opening hours in response to the current COVID crisis.
Beaudesert branch manager Ken Noble said the decision was made to keep staff and customers safer.
"We did this before at the start of COVID and we closed on Saturdays," he said.
"I think we closed for about a month and a half then. This time I'm not sure how long it'll be but we will reopen on Saturdays again."
Mr Noble said staff shortages due to increased COVID cases triggered the decision but it was unlikely to have a significant impact in Beaudesert.
"We're okay as far as staff numbers go at this stage but we've got our Jimboomba branch closed today purely because of lack of staff availablity," he said.
"Last time we were closed (on Saturdays) there wasn't really any impact on our members, it was just they had to change their habits a little bit.
"They came in during the week. We are still open Monday to Friday during normal hours.
"On Saturdays I'll still be coming in if people want to do loan applications or sign-ups but for normal day to day trade we've just decided to do this to protect staff and also to reduce traffic through the place.
"We'll still be available on Saturdays if people want to see us but I'm finding less and less people are using the Saturday service as well.
"I was in last Saturday and it was quite steady but not really busy, not like during the week. But at this stage too our knowledge it's not a permanent thing."
