A SEVERE thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of the Scenic Rim, with damaging winds and hail predicted.
Severe thunderstorms were detected on the radar near Kooralbyn, Moogerah Dam, Laravale and Moogerah at 4.10pm.
They are moving southeast and are expected to affect Maroon Dam by 4.40 pm, and Mount Barney and Lamington National Park by 5.10 pm.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the south-east coast and other parts of Queensland, including the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett regions.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services urge people to move cars undercover and away from trees, secure loose outdoor items, seek shelter, avoid using a telephone and beware of fallen powerlines.
An updated warning is due to be issued at 5.10pm.
