A splash of colour to walkway
JIMBOOMBA locals have a new, colourful reason to leave the car behind and walk to town.
Murals have been painted on the walls of the Jimboomba temporary pedestrian safety crossing underneath the Mount Lindesay Highway.
And the images are bounding into the hearts of young and old alike.
The works feature one of Jimboomba's most iconic animals, the kangaroo, against a vibrant colour palette designed to brighten the underground space.
Division 9 councillor Scott Bannan said Jimboomba's newest marsupial images were already becoming a bit of a tourist attraction.
"We want more people to know about [the walkway], it's sort of a hidden secret," Cr Bannan said.
He said the mural project would boost pedestrian traffic through the walkway, at minimal cost to ratepayers.
Logan City Council mural artists Jay Christensen and Paul Turnbull put the finishing touches on their latest masterpieces recently.
