Logan and Beaudesert's COVID-19 vaccination rates are among the lowest in Australia, according to figures released by the federal government.
Only 13.2 per cent of people over the age of 15 have been fully vaccinated, representing the second lowest vaccination rate in Queensland and the third lowest in Australia.
Rankin MP Jim Chalmers said it was the reason Labor leader Anthony Albanese had called on the Morrison government to provide a one-off $300 payment to anyone fully-vaccinated.
Mr Chalmers said it would provide incentive for people to get the jab.
"Scott Morrison repeatedly said it's not a race," he said.
"But it is a race. It's a race to vaccinate Australia and it's a race to vaccinate our community.
"This is a common sense way to boost vaccinations and deliver a shot in the arm to our local businesses that are really struggling.
"Anthony Albanese and I recently thanked the doctors, nurses, police and volunteers at the Logan Entertainment Centre vaccination centre.
"Like them, Albo and I want to see as many locals as possible vaccinated as quickly as possible.
"If Scott Morrison hadn't botched the vaccine rollout we'd be at the front of the queue not the bottom end of the developed world."
Mr Chalmers said the one-off payments were "small change" compared to the hundreds of millions of dollars a day and billions of dollars a week the national economy was bleeding.
"When one of us gets vaccinated, all of us are safer," he said.
Federal MP Scott Buchholz said it was offensive to suggest people in the Scenic Rim and Logan needed to be paid to do the right thing.
"Labor's proposal to financially incentivise Australians to get vaccinated is yet more evidence they just don't get it," he said.
"My constituents in Logan and the Scenic Rim are hardworking salt of the earth people who I know have done the right thing by their country, every time they've been asked and will do so when it comes to getting the vaccination.
"I mean where will it stop? Will Labor then offer $300 dollar handouts to parents to vaccinate their children against, mumps, measles and rubella? It is an insult to those that have been vaccinated. We make the decision to get vaccinated to protect ourselves, our families, our friends and broader community.
"What this suggestion ultimately does is put further doubt in peoples minds as to whether they should be vaccinated, or do they wait for Labor's $300 incentive that may never come? Shame on you. Shame on you for creating the doubt which ultimately will be born by our medical practitioners who are encouraging people to get vaccinated now, and as a government we've set some strong targets for national coverage.
"I urge every resident to get vaccinated when able, despite the offensive gesture that suggests people need to get paid.
"One has to wonder did Labor consult with the medical experts and General Frewen, who has been charged with the vaccination rollout and is working extremely hard and doing a great job ramping it up? That is reflected in the raw numbers, with more than 200,000 does administered on average each day and one million doses administered every week.
"Labor's position is reckless and unAustralian, let's all get vaccinated."
