LOGAN Regional Chamber of Commerce is calling on the city to discount licence fees for vendors who have just come through another snap COVID-19 lockdown.
More than 1300 businesses received a 50 per cent discount to their licence renewal fees at the start of last financial year, part of Logan City Council's COVID-19 response package.
The move was announced in the 2020/2021 Budget.
Chamber president Chyerl Pridham urged council to implement similar measures to give businesses a hand after this week's lockdown.
"We're calling on council to give significant discounts on licence fees for businesses significantly by the lockdown," she said.
"You can't expect small businesses to keep sucking everything up."
Logan businesses lost thousands of dollars over the three-day lockdown which was lifted in the city on Friday morning.
Combined with a 2.5 per cent rise in the minimum wage - it is up from $19.84 per hour to $20.32 per hour under the Consumer Price Index - it could mean further trouble for struggling businesses.
"It could be the straw which broke the camel's back," Mrs Pridham said.
Deputy mayor Jon Raven said council could consider the move, but it would have to be raised with economic development staff.
"Our economic development team works closely with the chambers of commerce," he said.
"While council could consider it, it hasn't been raised with us."
