YARRABILBA residents will lace up their shoes for a Relay for Life to raise money for cancer victims this year.
Participants will walk and run around San Damiano College's oval on October 23.
Organisers have trimmed the event down from an overnight walk to seven hours. It will kick off at 2pm and run until 9pm.
Division 9 councillor Scott Bannan and Division 4's Laurie Koranski joined forces to get the event going.
Cr Bannan said he was happy to hand over the hosting reigns for the event which was formerly on at Hills College.
"We just weren't ready to go," he said.
"We needed a COVID friendly venue at low cost. We just didn't have one."
Cr Koranski said the fencing at the oval was a key part of the COVID-safe plan.
"There's one entrance and one exit, and one place to sign in and out," she said.
