TWO new police officers who have hit the beat at Jimboomba say the respect for officers at rural stations is higher than in the city.
Constables Jordan Eiser and Ryan Black look forward to digging into some proactive policing which working at places like Logan Central did not often allow for.
Both officers did probationary stints at Logan Central.
Constable Black spent seven months there, while Constable did six months.
"There's a lot more respect out here for the police, it's good," Constable Eiser said.
"There is a lot more proactive policing here, like RBTs.
"At night, we have time to do patrols to keep the community safe."
Constable Eiser said he also enjoyed the quieter feel of Jimboomba's beat.
"I like it out here," Constable Eiser said.
"You have time to catch your breath between jobs, which is nice."
The two men say they always wanted to be police when they left school.
Blue is in Constable Black's blood.
His uncle, Stuart Brown, served in the bayside region, rising to a senior constable.
"He was also a major in the army," Constable Black said.
"[I wanted to be a police officer] ever since I was a kid."
Constable Eiser said he had ambitions of being a cop since schhool.
"It's something through high school I have always wanted to do," he said.
Sergeant Lawrie Catterson welcomed the two new officers.
"It's great to have more police bolstering the numbers," he said.
