Quota Art Show back in June after COVID-19 break

The show, which would have been the 19^th but for COVID-19 cancelling last year's, is on from June 18-20 at Jimboomba Community and District Hall.

It gets underway at 7pm on opening night, with guests asked to arrive by 6.30pm.

Tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for artists, and include a glass of wine and supper.

Then, it is on from 9am-2pm on Saturday and 9am-12pm Sunday, with tickets costing $3.

Beaudesert Cake Decorators will hold a display during the show, on the Saturday from 10am-12pm.

Organisers traditionally receive entries from as far north as Gympie, south to Kyogle in NSW, Logan and the Gold Coast.

More than 80 artists entered the 2019 event.

Co-ordinator Brenda Fielding said interest was high ahead of this year's show, as artists were keen to put COVID-19's interruption behind them.

Keen art lovers were sweating on COVID-19 restrictions lifting in time for the show.

"People are all anxious and waiting to see what has happened," Mrs Fielding said.

There are eight categories for entrants to choose from this year: Traditional, modern and three-dimensional art, student, as well as open and student photography, textiles and crafts and an all abilities section.

An additional category, with a wild waters theme, has been kept from last year. Artists can enter work in this category in any medium.

All works entered must be for sale.

The entry fee for a work of art is $10 or $5 for a student. Entrants can submit a maximum of six pieces.

Entries close on June 4.

Previous winners include Stockleigh artist Carla Benzie, who recently announced she was painting Sir David Attenborough's portrait as her latest work, in a bid to raise money for animal conservation.

She wrote to the 94-year-old, and was stunned when he replied.
