Commuters urged to avoid flooded Logan roads as Weather Bureau predicts more rain

JACK Cusack Bridge has gone underwater.

Motorists are advised to avoid Cusack Lane with water over the road.

Division 9 councillor Scott Bannan urged drivers to slow down in the conditions.

"Even if the water has just gone across the road, slow down," he said.

"I've seen it happen today already. People go past doing about 80 and you can't see anything."

The weather bureau has issued a flood warning for the Logan and Albert rivers, with major flood levels expected at Beaudesert on Tuesday morning.

Shortly after 8am, the river at Beaudesert was at 7.32 metres and rising.

At Maclean Bridge, it was at 8.44 metres and expected to reach the minor flood level, 10 metres, late Tuesday morning.

It was 2.7 metres at Waterford, well below the 6 metre minor flood level, but the bureau said it could exceed the level later on Tuesday as heavy rain continued.

"River levels are expected to remain well below the 2017 TC Debbie flood peak of 10.50 (metres)," the bureau said.

Minor to moderate flood levels were also expected to be reached on the Albert River at Wolffdene and Beenleigh.

EARLIER

ROADS across the area are flooded this morning as rain continues to fall.

Clutha Creek Road at Mundoolun has water over it in a number of places, while Mundoolun Road and Chambers Flat Road are also affected.

Water is covering Granger Road at Park Ridge South, near Thylungra Road, and Millstream Road, Jimboomba.

Stoney Camp Road is covered at Park Ridge South.

It comes as rain lashes the region, with more predicted by the Weather Bureau.

Water has closed Luscombe Bridge on Beaudesert Beenleigh Road.
