A YARRABILBA parent wants to see a 40km/hr school zone outside St Clare's Primary School and a safer crossing during peak hours.
Sarah Sheehan walks her children to school at the intersection of Combs Street and Yarrabilba Drive every morning but she fears for their safety when crossing the road.
Ms Sheehan has a walking disability and is aided by a walking frame and is unable to cross the road quickly.
"I enjoy walking my children to school, whilst I still am able to but dread the intersection and there is absolutely no way I would let my children go by themselves.
"I have seen other children and adults take very dangerous risks to cross the road," she said.
Ms Sheehan said three other schools in the estate and in Yarrabilba Drive have a 40km/hr speed limit.
"Cars, trucks, motorbikes fly through the roundabout and half the time they don't indicate."

She said adding to the danger, the roundabout at the intersection of Combs Street and Yarrabilba Drive was the overgrown vegetation on the verge.
"It is extremely dangerous...the roundabout is on the end of an S bend so can't see around it as well as the the vegetation hanging over the footpath.
"On the roundabout itself it is raised and there is vegetation which adds to the difficulty on seeing when it is safe to cross," she said.
"A safe crossing is desperately needed."
According to Logan City Council pedestrian warning signs had been installed on the approach to the Combs Street roundabout.
"This is to increase driver awareness of pedestrians," a council spokesperson said.
However, Ms Sheehan said this did not deter speedsters and she wanted the speed limit reduced and more than a refuge island sign.
"What will it take for the council to do something about it? - A child being killed or a hit and run or fatal car accident?" she said.
Council said the vegetation near the roundabout had been trimmed and will be monitored.
"Council is currently reviewing the need for school zone signage along Yarrabilba Drive," a spokesperson said.
