Two talented rugby league players will return to the Brisbane Broncos academy at the end of this season.
Caleb Cresswell and Levi Bannan are back in the fold after a strong showing for Marsden High in the Broncos Cup.
The halves pairing guided the under 13s team to a 26-6 victory over Keebra Park in the year 7 final.
The school, known for its league prowess, made a clean sweep of the competition, winning the years 7, 8, 9 and 10 titles for the first time in a single season.
They will now join up with the Broncos' Elite Player Development program, which was cut back to just three training sessions because of COVID-19 during this season.
Caleb and Levi, both tackling machines who make up for their small stature with huge hearts and defensive ability, were central to the win.
Caleb's mother Kim said defence was his strong suit.
"His specialty is defence," she said.
"And he has a good ability to read the game."
The goalkicker has worked hard on his technique from the tee, and has also made fitness gains, Kim said.
Levi's dad Scott Bannan said turning professional was an option, but he was taking it as it came.
"Anything can happen with kids," he said.
"At the moment he's just enjoying his footy. But they are both defensive halves, and that's what makes them stand out."
The Broncos are battling to avoid being handed the wooden spoon this weekend.
