Education Minister Grace Grace, Logan MP Linus Power and Jordan MP Charis Mullen joined representatives from developer Mirvac at the new school site on Wednesday for the handover.
The school, which will sit on a seven-hectare site at Everleigh, will open in 2022 and serve the growing Flagstone community.
Logan MP Linus Power said it was an exciting moment for the local community.
"Today signals the start of the journey towards building this $66 million primary school in Greenbank which is a rapidly growing area here in Logan," he said.
"As well as providing world-class educational infrastructure, this project will create significant employment opportunities for local tradies and subcontractors.
"This new school here at Greenbank/North Maclean will support up to 220 local jobs, ensuring a pipeline of work for our construction workers can continue into the future."
Ms Mullen said the school would be ready for Day 1, 2022.
"This is exciting news for local families, and I look forward to watching this school spring up from the ground," she said.
"We've seen just how quickly this development area has expanded and a new primary school will help deliver the infrastructure needed to support this growing community."
Ms Grace said the school would be a state-of-the-art facility.
"Once built, the school will feature an admin block, library, multi-purpose hall, Prep learning area, canteen, covered areas and much more," Ms Grace said.
"This school is one of four new schools the Palaszczuk government announced in July, opening in 2022 and 2023.
"The other schools being built are a primary school at Caloundra South (opening in 2022), a special school at Coomera (2022) and a primary school in Brisbane's inner west (2023).
"Queensland's plan for economic recovery begins with job creation and in the education space, we're more than pulling our weight thanks to big projects like these."
Mirvac Queensland residential manager Warwick Bible said the school would be a great addition to the growing community.
"Mirvac is thrilled to hand over the land at Greenbank," he said.
"The addition of a new school in Greenbank will bolster the future of the Greenbank community, catering to the current and future demand for education facilities.
"This event symbolises Mirvac's great relationship with the department and our shared priorities in accelerating education infrastructure in South East Queensland."
