A Mundoolun school girl has again clicked her needles in support of cancer victims, knitting scarves in a campaign to coincide with the Jimboomba Relay for Life in October.
Rebecca Fillery is supporting the Cancer Council by selling the wool scarves.
It is a cause close to the Beaudesert State High School student's heart. She has lost close friends and family members to the disease.
Rebecca has knitted about 30 scares so far this year, and hopes to raise about $200.
It comes on the back of a phenomenal effort last year in raising about $500.
"Last year she sold a lot to family, friends and on Facebook pages," Rebecca's mother Michelle said.
"This year she is trying to find a new audience."
The 16-year-old Girl Guide is using the campaign to go towards her Queens Guides award.
One of her guide leaders lost her life from cancer, making the cause even more emotional for Rebecca.
"It's quite upsetting how it's taken quite a lot of people," she said of the disease.
"I lost my great-grandmother when I was pretty young, and then my guide leader when I was in about Year 7.
She was devastated rain put an end to last year's event, meaning she could not go and support the cause.
"She made mascots and signs and everything," Mrs Fillery said.
"She was so disappointed last year."
The family was thrilled with Rebecca's efforts. after she taught herself how to knit.
"It's something she has done off her own back, so we're very proud," Mrs Fillery said.
"I'm pretty proud of myself," Rebecca said.
"It was something to challenge myself to do, and I thought I could use it as a fundraiser for the Relay for Life."
