A further 26 kilometres of bushfire breaks will be installed across Logan, as part of the council's 2020-2021 budget.
Council will spend more than $230,000 in creating the fire lines, to strengthen the city's fire break network.
Council said the horror bushfire season last summer, where large parts of eastern Australia had been destroyed, prompted the funding boost.
City Lifestyle Committee chair Laurie Koranski said that while Logan was spared the worst of the fires last summer, the city could not afford to be complacent.
"Our city has large natural land areas as well as urban communities adjacent to native bushland," Cr Koranski said.
"These both present a fire risk.
"This funding will ensure the risk of bushfires is lessened by reducing fuel loads in natural areas and ensuring access lines are clear."
Fire access lines are usually three to six metres wide and cut between bushland and houses to create a fire safety buffer.
They can provide fauna escape corridors.
