Preliminary results are being checked and re-counted and the official result of the 2020 Logan City Council elections could be more than a week away.
The large number of postal votes which need to be returned means the Electoral Commission of Queensland expects the count to take longer than usual. The ECQ said there was 570,000 postal votes lodged this election.
The ECQ will not declare results in individual elections until the formal count shows that it is mathematically impossible for any other candidate to be successful. This may be some time after candidates themselves declare or concede, particularly where the count is close.
