A Waterford West beauty queen will use the coronavirus shutdown to lock in some extra preparation for the biggest moment in her life.
But the virus is also cancelling a host of engagements Jazinda Barnes needs to make in order to qualify for the final of the World Galaxy Pageant in Chicago in October.
Ms Barnes who is the Miss Teen Galaxy Australia, has to make 10 appearances at local events in the lead-up to the United States event.
"It's about getting out and about in the community and fundraising events," she said.
"Everything is getting cancelled or postponed," Ms Barnes said.
"It's a bit hard at the moment."
At first, the prospect of postponing the Chicago event filled her with dread, but Ms Barnes said she now viewed it as a blessing in disguise.
"There's more time to prepare," she said.
"More time to find nice dresses."
Ms Barnes was crowned Miss Teen Galaxy Australia at the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort and Spa earlier this month.
She won the best evening wear, best interview and best fun fashion on her way to the overall victory.
Ms Barnes had mother Michelle Barnes, grandmother Ann Adamou and partner Chris Pepene-Davis with her when she won.
