ZONTA Club of Beaudesert is celebrating International Women's Day on March 6 with a luncheon at the RSL Club.
Zonta public relations chair Ellen Logan said the group hoped the local women who packed into the RSL function room for last year's event (along with seven men) would attend this year's luncheon.
"Our guest speaker is Annette Henderson, who was the 2009 best selling author of African memoir Wild Spirit," Ms Logan said.
"We feel she will have some very interesting stories, as she has done a lot more in the past decade. Hope you can join us."
Ms Henderson wrote her best-seller after her experiences with western lowland gorillas in Africa and released a second book, Scorched: Pushing the boundaries across the Sahara in 2012.
She worked as an anthropologist, university lecturer and higher education manager and now divides her time between speaking engagements and managing a two hectare Land for Wildlife property outside Brisbane.
Ms Logan said the event would feature a multi-draw raffle and lucky door prize and both Ms Henderson's books would be for sale on the day.
She said bookings were open until March 2 and tickets available for $40 per person at Dolly's Boutique at Beaudesert Fair.
