MOST shops and business will be closed in Beaudesert over the long weekend but there are several options for this year's Australia Day celebrations in town.
Aquis Beaudesert is hosting their Australia Day Race Day with free entry from 11am to 12.30pm on Sunday and the first 400 through the gate to receive a free XXXX beer.
A spokeswoman for Aquis said people who arrived before 12.30pm would also get a free sausage sizzle.
"We will have 10 races with the first race at 12.40pm," she said.
"There will also be live entertainment from musician Marcus Mercer."
The Railway Hotel and Beaudesert RSL Services Club are not planning any entertainment or activities for Sunday but the Beaudesert Hotel is hosting Australia Day celebrations with a sausage sizzle, Aussie-themed menu and music from local performer Brad Currie.
At The Centre Beaudesert on Sunday, Scenic Rim Regional Council is hosting their regional Australia Day Awards presentation along with a citizenship ceremony to run from 2pm.
This is an invitation only event for nominees, new citizens and their families.
Although council has hosted free pool parties on Australia Day for the past two years, this summer the event was held in November.
Beaudesert pool is running a special over the long weekend, with entry for two adults and two children at $10 with meat pies, Paddle Pops and Aussie music on offer.
Further afield, Mount Barney Lodge is hosting a January long weekend Sculptures and Sunday Session putting the spotlight on Scenic Rim artists, live music and local food and beverages from 2pm to 7pm.
O'Reilly's is hosting an Australia Day barbecue at the Canungra Valley Vineyards.
In the Fassifern, Kalbar Showgrounds will be serving an Aussie breakfast for early risers from 6.15 to 7.30am followed by an Australia Day address by federal MP Scott Buchholz and community award presentations.
Fassifern Sports Club is holding a day of barefoot bowls, throng tossing and live music from 11am.
The Bearded Dragon has beers, barbecues and live music all over the long weekend on Tamborine Mountain.
Binna Burra is celebrating the Australia Day long weekend including a sausage sizzle each day and a variety of activities including flying fox, abseiling, archery and bush skills.
The Kooralbyn Resort is hosting an Aussie barbecue and spit roasts, thong throwing contest, cane toad races, sack races and Aussie music all day at the Pavilion Country Club.
