Greenbank Rural Fire Brigade can now stay cooler on the fireground.
The firefighters have received a donation of cool ties - cotton garments which contain water soaked polymer beads - to ease the heat on jobs.
Good samaritans donated 40 ties to the station.
Third officer Adam Holmes said they were effective.
"They definitely work," he said.
"They are good to have on your neck."
The ties can be stored in the fridges of trucks to keep them cooler on the way to jobs.
"We have used similar things in the past," Mr Holmes said.
"Guys have used towels on the backs of their necks."
A woman who helped make the ties said she was happy to give them to Greenbank's volunteers.
"Down south was asking for them, but I thought you look after your own first," the generous woman, who did not want her name published," said.
"I would rather do them for the local firies."
