COMMUTERS will be charged more for their trip to work on public transport when TransLink increases prices on all services across Queensland next week.
Adult and concession fares will rise by 1.9 per cent on January 6, meaning people travelling across three zones on an adult Go Card can expect to pay 12 cents more for a trip than they did last year.
Fares for people travelling from suburbs like Redland Bay or Cleveland to Brisbane will increase from $6.16 to $6.28 during peak time on busses and trains.
People travelling from suburbs four zones away from the city like Jimoomba and Beaudesert will pay an extra 15 cents per trip in 2020, with prices increasing from $8.11 to $8.26 when travelling one-way on an adult Go Card.
Single paper ticket prices will also increase by 30 cents per trip when travelling from a zone three suburb to Brisbane and by 20 cents when travelling from zone four.
TransLink said the price hike was in line with the Consumer Price Index and encouraged people to take advantage of the Go Card discount scheme, which offers reduced fares for pensioners, concessions and people who travel during off-peak times between 8.30am and 3.30pm.
Children aged between five and 14 can travel free on weekends while concessions, including students and defence force veterans, will continue to receive 50 per cent off an adult fare.
People can also travel for half the price of a normal fare after their eighth paid journey if it falls within seven days.
