THE Beaudesert Borobies continued their winning ways on the weekend to establish themselves as the teams to beat in the top grades.
At Dauth Park the Borobies first XI were sent in to bat first and made a good start, with opening batsman Joel Thorne scoring a patient 40.
Sam Stewart enjoyed his return to the game with an unbeaten 92 as he led the charge with the assistance of Stuart Groom (31) to amass a very competitive total of 7/218.
Opening bowlers Alex Darton and Andrew Staines claimed five batsmen between them in their opening nine overs to put Beenleigh on the back foot.
Staines (3/17) and Darton (2/9) maimed the opposition while new comer Hayden Sheppard (4/31) cleaned up the rest to have Beenleigh all out for just 63.
The Borobies second XI had a local showdown at Selwyn Park against a young and keen Beaudesert Pioneers.
The Borobies batted first and made a solid start through opening pair Steve Larrescy and Jayden Stephan.
Following an early retirement for Larrescy on 13, Joel Hughes returned to the line-up batting with an in-form Jayden Stephan (79).
Wayne Short joined Hughes after Stephan departed and added a further 136 runs before Hughes was out for 78.
Short went on to score an unbeaten 54 and the Borobies finished with a formidable 6/288.
The Borobies attack took seven overs before making a break-though but the wickets began to tumble soon after and they dismissed the Pioneers for 118.
Elsewhere, Beaudesert level 3B played Ipswich at Ray Antcliff Oval. The Thunder made 4/204 after being sent into bat with Adam Stockham 2/20 doing the damage for Beaudesert.
They were unable to back it up with the bat as they were held to 5/161.
Beaudesert green level 2B travelled to Springwood but had an off day, scoring just 8/90.
In reply, the Suns amassed a total of 168 for the loss of seven wickets off 25 overs.
Beaudesert red level one played at home against Kuraby, scoring 7/82 from 20 overs.
They started well with the ball in reply but it was not enough as Kuraby reached 9/132 off 20 overs.
