IN JUST 12 months three Jimboomba Stingrays swimmers have transitioned from learning to swim classes to competing at their first swim meet in the Gold Coast on November 9.
Tayla Maguire, 10, won gold medals for 25 metre breaststroke (25.53 seconds) and 25 metre backstroke (23.84 seconds).
Leksi Whyman, 10, won silver for 25 metre backstroke (31.24 seconds), 25 metre breaststroke (29.25 seconds) and 25 metre freestyle (22.11 seconds).
Katie Martin, 9, competed in all four strokes and the 100 metre individual medley and achieved personal best times.
Coach Cathy Boyce said the girls did exceptionally well at the All Saints swim meet.
"They have come from learning stroke development to swimming laps and achieving personal best times," she said.
Kieran Jenkinson, Alec Hefferan and Joseph Caffery also competed in a swim meet at Tweed Heads on November 9 and secured medals and personal best times.
Mr Jenkinson achieved personal best times in all his strokes except 50 metre breaststroke and won two gold medals, three silver and one bronze.
Mr Caffery scored a bronze medal in the 200 metre individual medley and personal bests in all other strokes.
Mr Hefferan achieved personal bests in all strokes except 50 metre backstroke.
