HAZEL Bros Queensland has been awarded the tender to widen the Mount Lindesay Highway to four lanes from Rosia Road to Stoney Camp Road in Park Ridge.

This forms part of the state government's updated plan to duplicate the Mount Lindesay Highway to four lanes from Park Ridge to Jimboomba by 2028.
The project is expected to take 12 months to complete with works to include reinforced embankments, new road pavements, street lighting, landscaping, drainage upgrades, asphalt surfacing, pavement markings and safety barriers.
Logan MP Linus Power said with almost 20 per cent of traffic on the Mount Lindesay highway exiting at Stoney Camp Road and Granger Road, the upgrade would improve traffic flow.
"Taking the four laning beyond Stoney Camp and Granger Road will mean safer, smoother and faster travel times for motorists heading home," Mr Power said.
"It will also be an improved alternative for Greenbank and Flagstone residents who are currently using Middle Road."
The state government's 2019-2020 budget allocated $45.7 million toward Mount Lindesay Highway upgrades.
Logan Country Safe City chairman David Kenny said the project would do little to reduce overall congestion on the highway.
"It will just go from four lanes to two lanes," he said.
"What they are doing is mainly making it safer but it does nothing to reduce congestion now."
Mr Kenny called on the Queensland and federal governments to commit to upgrading the Mount Lindesay Highway from Park Ridge to Beaudesert on a 50/50 basis.
"The federal government needs to fund it because (Inland Rail) is putting more trucks on the highway at Bromelton and the state needs to fund it because of the rampant development they are allowing.
"The state can't say they don't have money because they just found $250 million to give to public servants. The federal government can't say they can't fund it because they have (budgeted) all this money for infrastructure."
The Morrison government committed to investing $100 billion into infrastructure over 10 years in the 2019-2020 budget.
