PLANTING is expected to begin at the North Maclean Community Gardens by the end of this month.
Logan's Jehovah Jireh Baptist church leader Lal Finai helped set up the Community Gardens at the Australian Technology and Agricultural College this month.
The college is located at 4808 Mount Lindesay Highway, near the BP service station.
ATAC CEO Narendra Nand said it would provide horticultural sector training for people with a non-English speaking background.
"Planting will begin as the weather becomes more favourable," Mr Nand said.
"These partnerships will enable us to establish better community engagement and ongoing education and training for everyone to build our agricultural and trade sectors."
ATAC is also partnering with One Stop Training which will run a machinery training and certificate course information session on Thursday, August 22 from 8.30am to 10.30am.
The availability of a certificate three qualification in Process Manufacturing, partially funded by the Queensland government, will be discussed.
Under the certificate three guarantee, students only need to cover a co-contribution fee of $50.
Eligible students will also be able to choose to take on two machinery courses at no extra cost upon completion of the certificate three in Process Manufacturing.
Machinery courses include Forklift, Scissor Lift, Construction Induction White Card and Order picking.
To register call 1300 556 387 or email training@onestopgroup.com.au.
ATAC will also host a Bushfoods Conference on September 28.
The conference will feature various industry speakers from growing, processing, selling, research, catering and education backgrounds.
ATAC accepts enrolments from students in years 10-12.
Year 12 graduates receive their Queensland Certificate of Education and supplementary Certificate two in Business and Trade Certificate.
