FRESH from a cabinet meeting in Logan, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk inspected the Yarrabilba State Secondary College construction site with five future students.
The $65 million high school is on track to open its doors for the first day of term one next year with 300 year seven and eight enrolments expected.
Foundation principal Belinda Tregea said there have already been 120 expressions of interest and 17 confirmed enrolments.
Yarrabilba State School's school captain Benjamin Sulja and vice-captain Telethia Delaney were among the students to join Ms Palaszczuk on her tour of the proposed sports area and classroom blocks.
Ms Delaney said it was eye-opening to watch the school being built.
"We are all coming here next year and we are excited to see it getting built so that when we come next year we will be able to see what it looks like compared to now," she said.
Mr Sulja said he was looking forward to the opportunities awaiting him in high school.
Logan MP Linus Power said there would be 48 classrooms built in the first stage of the project.
"Looking at the construction it will be the best high school in Queensland," he said.
"We can already see they are seeding the field which will be mature by the time the kids kick their first ball.
"Yarrabilba people know this is real and coming together on time."
Ms Palaszczuk said she would return to visit the school on the first day of term one next year.
