BEAUDESERT golfer Maverick Antcliff has rocketed up the world rankings following success in China.
The 26-year-old has moved up 369 spots since the start of the year to sit 233rd overall thanks to a three-peat of titles on the China Tour.
Antcliff won his first tournament as a professional at the Bo Ao Open before backing it up a week later in Shenzhou and then Beijing.
"To get my first win as a professional in the first week (of the tour) was pretty cool," Antcliff said.
"It was a nice feeling to know that your hard work is paying off.
"Obviously you have a little bit more self belief and realise what it takes to win.
"To back it up the next week with another win was probably more satisfying than the first one."
Antcliff said he caught the golfing bug at 11 when he visited Beaudesert Golf Club on school holidays.
"I always used to just smack a few balls around with dad and stuff like that," he said.
"It wasn't until I was 12 that I started playing 18 holes on a Sunday."
Antcliff qualified for the Queensland PGA championship at 17, two years after joining the golf academy at Hills International College.
After graduating from high school he chased his dreams in the United States at a University in Augusta before moving back to Beaudesert, which he has called home for 26 years.
Antcliff still returns to Hills International College to train at the school's golf course in the heart of Jimboomba.
He said Hills Golf Course operator Robert McNamara was an ongoing supporter of his hectic, 7-day-a-week training schedule.
"Robert has helped me out a lot," Antcliff said. "I've got a great relationship with the boys at Hills."
Antcliff said he had a busy few months ahead of him.
"I'll play in 15 or so events before now and the end of the year," he said.
"In the short term I've got a few weeks at home to do some practice work on my game which is nice."'
