THE senior Park Ridge Pirates AFL side is in strong form ahead of the season launch this month.
Club coach Andy Colenso said the seniors easily defeated Wynnum in a practice match on Saturday with a dominant 80-44 score.
"They won in pretty trying conditions...it was pretty hot," he said.
The reserve Pirates had less luck on the weekend going down 28-86.
Colenso said there were about five or six new players in the senior squad and eight to 10 new reserves.
"It was good to see the older players from previous years adapt with our newer players," he said.
"This puts us in good stead for the 2019 season.
"To win another premiership and go back to back would be an achievement."
The Pirates defeated the Beenleigh Buffaloes 89-72 to claim the premiership last year.
Park Ridge will take on University of Queensland in a home match on March 29 at 7.30pm for the first game of the season.
There are team vacancies for junior teams from under eight to under 17.
Anyone interested in joining the club can call 0438 806 958.
Under 12, 14, 16 and 17 girls will play against Jindalee in an annual practice match on Sunday, March 17.
