A SOUTH-easterly wind change will likely ease scorching temperatures and clear up desert dust settling over south-east Queensland.
Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson said the wind change was forecast for Thursday, bringing a heatwave across the greater Brisbane region to an end.
Temperatures, which had sky-rocketed to about 40 degrees at Jimboomba and Beaudesert today, were expected ease by Thursday.
Maximum temperatures of about 30 degrees have been forecast for the rest of the week.
The spokesperson said dusty conditions would ease with the change.
The dust storm had been carried by westerly winds from the desert, the spokesperson said.
