Mr Summerell authored the 50 page book named ‘The Allure of the of the Australorp’ which uncovers a comprehensive history of Australia’s national breed of poultry.
Only 250 copies were printed and each book is individually numbered and signed by the author.
Mr Summerell said the masterpiece quickly sold out.
“Books were purchased by poultry fanciers in every state in Australia as well as New Zealand, USA, France and Great Britain,” he said.
“Exhibition poultry aficionados now consider the book to be amongst that rare genre of collector’s items.”
Most of the Australorp chickens photographed for the book were bred on Mr Summerell’s Mundoolun farm.
Mr Summerell is a respected poultry judge who has traveled across Australia and America for judging appointments.
He also lectures to various poultry clubs and groups on various topics.
Mr Summerell has been breeding poultry for more than 30 years.
